Compersion and low-key jealousy
Navigating non-monogamy means embracing a full spectrum of emotions. From the quiet warmth of compersion to the natural twinges of feeling left out, here is our personal take on overnight dates, honest vulnerability, and the joy of coming home.

The first overnight date
When my wife went on her first overnight date with her boyfriend, there was no intense jealousy, no regret, and no anger. What stood out above everything else was pure joy knowing she was respected, cared for, and thoroughly happy. There is a special magic in compersion—genuinely feeling uplifted by your partner's happiness—and knowing she will soon walk through the door, beaming and glowing.

Making peace with the quiet hours
It is entirely normal to feel a hint of low-key jealousy or sadness when your partner is out and you are on your own. During those nights, I head out to the shop to build a few personal projects or spend quality time playing with our dogs. Finding your own meaningful routine helps reframe solo time into personal space, knowing you are only hours away from welcoming them back into your arms.

Finding what works for your dynamic
Every person and relationship dynamic is distinct, and there is no universal handbook for handling solo evenings. Whether you curl up with a favorite movie, catch up on projects, or simply relax, the goal is building comfort and trust at your own pace.
